  The Czech, Bulgarian and Russian team are the first to arrive

The draw of the participating teams of Salwa Cup will be held today The final preparations for the Kuwait’s sixth International Table Tennis Championship (Salwa Cup) are going on 24 hours before the kickoff. This championship is hold under the patronage of H.H. the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad. The organizing committee of the Championship will hold the draw at 3:00pm today at the Palms Beach Hotel. It will be supervised by the International Federation and in the presence of the represents of the participating teams. The draw will include the single and doubles men categories, single and doubles women categories, and the single men and single women both under 21 years. The rest of the participating delegations will arrive today. Yesterday the teams of all of Czech, Bulgaria, Russia, Poland, North Korea, Romania, Italy, Latvia, Belgium, and Germany arrived to Kuwait. They are ready for their participation in one of the biggest international table tennis championships, in which 38 countries are participating. The Salwa Cup was included in the international championships and is held annually in Kuwait. “The organizing committee of this championship is giving its best ifforts in this championship in cooperation with the Kuwait Tennis Federation. This will make Kuwait an attractive hub for holding tennis international championships,” said Jasim Yaqoub, Deputy Director of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS). “All institutions should support the organizing committee in its work on organizing this international championship to keep its prestigious reputation. I always attend the tournaments to enjoy the playing performance of the international champions, who are also keen to participate in this international championship,” added Yaqoub. The Czech team The members of the Czech teams expressed their delight of being participating in this championship. Dimitrej Protobokov is visiting Kuwait for the first time. “The Czech players had prepared well through holding an indoor camp there, and participating in the Qatar International championship. I always heard about the Salwa Cup and I’m very happy that I was chosen to participate in it. It will be good experience that will enrich my table tennis career. I will also know more about the standard in the GCC countries,” he noted. His colleague Michal Opelo agreed on being ready for the competition in this championship, which he expects to be exciting. While another colleague Tomas Trigler hoped that Czech will gain a golden medal or rank in one of the top positions. The Egyptian team is participating with nine players The Egyptian team is every year participating in the Salwa Cup will all its champions. “The good organization and high attendance of the GCC, Arab, Asian, and international teams is attracting the players to participate, as they will gain experience and will meet the different playing and training schools. Also the high financial prizes set in this championship put it on the international level. I thank the organizers of this championship as it is really professional,” stated Adel Ibraheen, President of the Egyptian Table Tennis Federation and the Head of the participating team. This year the Egyptian team is participating with 9 players: Sayid Lashin, Emad Muselhi, Ahmad Nadeem, Amro Aser, Mohammed Al-Bili, Ali Lashin, Tareq Al-Sabki, Mahmoud Zaghlool, and Mohammed Zaghlool. “Our team is ready for this participation as they also recently participated in the Qatar championship, and they intend to achieve good scores to add to their sports record,” concluded Ibraheem.
